This 5-ounce bundle from North Mountain Supply contains 250 Campden tablets for wine and cider preservation along with 2 ounces of food-grade potassium sorbate stabilizer. The Campden tablets consist of compressed sodium metabisulfite to inhibit microbial growth in wine and cider at a dosage of one tablet per gallon. At this dosage, the 250 included tablets can preserve up to 250 gallons. The potassium sorbate stabilizer likewise prevents refermentation when used prior to bottling at 1/2 teaspoon per gallon. With its 2-ounce volume, it can stabilize up to 64 gallons. Used together, these two products provide complete microbial stabilization and preservation for home wine and cider making from initial fermentation through to finished product. The Campden tablets offer easy measured dosing with their compressed tablet format to clear musts and wines of wild yeast and bacteria. The potassium sorbate then maintains stability once fermentation is complete.
